Why Residents should Raise their Homes

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) states that: Along the Gulf Coast, a storm surge is the greatest threat to life and property. In addition to the frequency of which New Orleans is in the path of hurricanes, there are also other factors that intensify the problems of these catastrophic events. Hurricanes such as Katrina, Ike, and Gustav have shown the vulnerability of the city of New Orleans.

To relieve some of these threats, House Raising in New Orleans has begun. Robert Wolf Construction is leading the way.

As most residents know, the city of New Orleans is shaped like a bowl. When a hurricane produces a storm surge, water may flood and stay in the bowl until the pumps remove the excess water. The severe flooding during Hurricane Katrina even swept away houses. If a home wasn’t swept away, it was surely damaged and, often times, beyond repair.

The City of New Orleans and the surrounding areas felt the intense pressure to provide a solution for local homeowners. House Raising, along with the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) that coincides, are just the solutions.

The question then becomes: How do I Raise my House?

Your answer is Robert Wolf Construction! We will patiently guide you through the entire process of raising your house. At Louisiana Home Elevations, we run a turn-key process. This means that you will never be left in the dark. We will be at your side throughout the entire process—even before and after your home raising. We disconnect and reconnect all of your utilities, as well as refinish the foundation to match the current style and color of your home. We can build you a deck, stairs, or whatever you need!

Call today to schedule a meeting with one of our New Orleans House Raising specialists.

Raising your house can be a very involved and tedious process. A few factors that affect the outcome are:

 Type of house elevation
• Width of the house to be raised
• Number of stories in the home
• Beams (size and spacing)
• Building Permits
• Large powerful jacks (Louisiana Home Elevations has one of the largest in the world!)
• And much more

The process of elevating your home is demanding, complex, and, often times, necessary. Choose a company with the knowledge and proven track record to get the job done right. Here’s the bottom line: if you’re looking to raise your house, use Robert Wolf Construction. We are a local, licensed, insured, and highly professional house raising company serving New Orleans and the larger Louisiana area. Remember:
